Here are some pictures from this past weekends "Surgeon Steak Party". There is a constant rotator plane transporting patients back and forth from Iraq to Germany. If we are real nice sometimes the Flight Doctors will buy us some things we can't get here in Balad, like real steaks. We were able to grill some fresh steaks and grabbed some sides from our hospital dinning facility. We were also able to make some guacamole from some avacados that were in the fruit bowl. If you closed your eyes and tried real hard you could almost feel like you were at home at a BBQ. Cutting our steaks with a disposable 10 blade was a nice touch.
Bren - I tried to post a comment about the eyeglass reflection photo but it didn't take; we'll see if this works. It is a cool photo, but I was annoyed to see the Kimberly-Clark logo printed on the mask - that should have been one of my patented, guaranteed non-fogging masks that KC shelved!!
ReplyDeleteI'm happier to see the ribeye photo. Next time, if you're really good, ask for some foie gras - I'm sure they could come up with that!
I thought of you last week in LC as I climbed Handies. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more 14ers. It was clear & calm at the top, extremely pleasant. I don't see how you slid down Grizzly on the snow - that's one steep boulder field! Will was kind enough to shuttle down and pick me up at Grizzly, so I took that route down - longer, but very pretty. I also caught my first trout in the river below the cabin with a fly, expertly guided by Will. We ate it within the hour.
Keep up the good work, although I hope you're bored most of the time, which would mean that fewer folks are getting banged up. Just think - you're nearly one-third through!
